About This Item
Beverly Hills: Copley Galleries, 1948. First edition. First edition. Signed by Man Ray on the title page with the inscription playing off the title, "et les enfants / Man Ray Paris-62." French philosopher Georges Bataille's copy with his ex libris on front free endpaper; inscribed in the year of his death. Bound in publisher's boards with cloth backstrip. Very Good+ with bumped corners, toning to boards.
39 illustrations from Man Ray; one of only 500 copies printed. Bataille's complex philosophical and critical oeuvre would greatly impact poststructuralist thought in the second half of the 20th century.
