Set on a farm, Orwell looks at a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, reflecting the events leading up to the 1917 Russian Revolution to the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union.Orwell wrote this controversial novella during the period of World War Two in which Britain was in alliance with the Soviet Union against the Nazis. Orwell was distinctly critical of Stalin, the political undertones of this novella leading it to be rejected by a number of publishers, including one of Orwell's own. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. A couple of very light marks to the boards. Light bumping to the spine and extremities. Red pencil to the recto to the front endpaper. Dustwrapper is a little edge worn, resulting in some small chips and closed tears. Front fly leaf was formerly detached, repaired here with tape by a prior owner. Light marks to the wraps, including a faint tidemark to the reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with just the occasional light spot. Near Fine

Animal Farm is a dystopian novella by George Orwell. Published in England on 17 August 1945, the book reflects events leading up to and during the Stalin era before World War II. Orwell, a democratic socialist and a member of the Independent Labour Party for many years, was a critic of Joseph Stalin and was suspicious of Moscow-directed Stalinism after his experiences with the NKVD during the Spanish Civil War.

George Orwell is an author everyone must have the experiencing of reading. In this short novel, Orwell satirically criticises the Russian Revolution as well as other forms of government in the portrayal of animals to overthrow the human owner of a farm and begin to outline rules they must live by to be happy and free. This text covers topics of betrayal, leadership, honesty, and dishonesty. Orwell has always been ahead of his time, and this text exemplifies that in his advanced understanding of human behavior. I would say this is a must read, especially for those interested in politics and philosophy. Great book.
