Synopsis

Aldous Huxley's prophetic novel Brave New World describes a possible future where everything is controlled by the ultimate totalitarian state. Every aspect of life--from the economy to recreation to sex-- is controlled. The story follows the characters and uses their feelings of rejection or ostracism to show the extreme nature of this future society. This book is commonly taught in most courses on English literature, and has had an enormous impact on both American and British writers, as well as on political movements and contemporary thought on civil liberties. A first edition of this classic dystopian novel would be a prize in any collection.
