Six spine compartments between gilt-rolled decoration; red leather label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title; oval green leather label in fourth compartment with gilt-tooled volume number; and gilt-tooled decoration in remaining compartments. All page edges yellow. "Berlin, gedruckt bei Louis Quien." Former owner's name on front free endpaper: Dr. Adler. Previous owner's name partially removed from front free endpaper. Contents: Geschichte der Juden in West-Europa, seit ihrer Ankunft bis zur allgemeinen Verbreitung des Catholicismus im siebenten Jahrhundert -- Geschichte der Juden im Byzantinischen Reiche bis ins siebente Jahrhundert -- Geschichte der Juden in Persien und Arabien bis ins siebente Jahrhundert. The author, Isaak Markus Jost (1793-1860), taught at the Philanthropin in Frankfort-am-Main and was a Jewish historian. In Very Good- Condition: cover is rubbed; loss along spine; occasional foxing; pages are otherwise clean and tight.
