Signed and dated (July 8, 1974) by Ray Bradbury on picture on back of dustjacket with a drawn portrait by Don Bachardy. Cannot tell whether signature is original or printed since this is a surprisingly rare and scarce edition. I cannot fine reference to this particular edition anywhere to verify date and signature. Appears unread with previous owner bookplate on inside front book cover as well as previous owner stamp on page opposite title page, else unmarked. Book is in FINE condition with a FINE jacket in mylar cover. Small bookstore stamp on lower inside back book cover. An exceptional and SCARCE copy of this classic that has been in continued printing since its 1951 origin. Not remaindered or bookclub or library, mylar cover, unclipped jacket and unmarked except as previously stated.
Synopsis
The Illustrated Man is a 1951 book of eighteen science fiction short stories by Ray Bradbury that explores the nature of mankind. While none of the stories have a plot or character connection with the next, a recurring theme is the conflict of the cold mechanics of technology and the psychology of people. The unrelated stories are tied together by the frame device of "the Illustrated Man", a vagrant with a tattooed body whom the unnamed narrator meets.
