New Zealand: New Line Cinema. Near Fine with no dust jacket. 1998. Jacket. Original crew worn jacket from "The Lord of the Rings- The Fellowship of the Ring." Size: Medium. Great condition. This jacket was only made available to crew members of the Weta Digital FX unit in New Zealand and never sold to the public. It was not given to crew members for free. They were offered a one-time special order and obliged to pay for it. This is a genuine New Zealand oilskin jacket, with leather collar . The front of the jacket reads- "The Lord Of The Rings - Weta Digital Crew 1998-2001" On the back The Gates of Moria, otherwise known as The Doors of Durin are rendered in silver embroidery. A tag has the manufacturer as Oscar Eide in New Zealand. 100% cotton oilskin assures they remain waterproof. It has zippered chest pockets, two front pockets and four interior pockets. The inside has a mesh lining. Measurements (approximate) ; Length 32" Zipper to bottom 24' Sleeves 21" Shoulder to Shoulder 23" Armpit to Armpit 25" Color: off black or flat black. There is no fading to the color of the oilskin. Some wrinkles on leather collar. This is a well made quality garment. We doubt you'll see another for sale on again. .

Synopsis

The Lord of the Rings is an epic high fantasy novel written by philologist and Oxford University professor J. R. R. Tolkien. The story began as a sequel to Tolkien's earlier, less complex children's fantasy novel The Hobbit (1937), but eventually developed into a much larger work. It was written in stages between 1937 and 1954, much of it during World War II.  After the success of  The Hobbit , Tolkien’s publisher asked that he produce a sequel. Although written as one big work comprised of six books,  The Lord of the Rings  was broken into three separate volumes because of post-World War II paper shortages and size and price considerations. The print run of the first editions was very small: 3,000 copies for  The Fellowship of the Ring  (1954), 3,250 copies for  The Two Towers  (1954), and 7,000 copies for  The Return of the King  (1955).  The Lord of the Rings  went on to become one of the best-selling novels ever, with more than 150 million copies sold.
