FIRST EDITION 1781. 4to, approximately 270 x 210 mm, 10½ x 8½ inches, 2 engraved portraits, one of Sir John Wynne Baronet and the other is a small oval engraving of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart aged seven at the piano, 2 maps, folding map of Europe and full page map of part of North America, 5 tables, 1 large folding, some musical notations, a divisional title page entitled: The history of the Gwedir family' at page 342. Pages: iv, vii, 1-557, 4 leaves *471-*477 inserted between pages 472 & 473 and pages 541-546 omitted from pagination, but text and register are continuous, the same in all copies, handsomely bound by Period Binders in full calf, binder's tiny ticket tipped in on last endpaper, gilt lettered label and extra gilt decoration to spine, gilt decoration to edges of covers, 1 original endpaper still present plus new endpapers, large engraved unnamed bookplate with coat of arms on first pastdown, and another on free endpaper named Hugh Robert Hughes of Kinmel, H. M. Lieutenant of Flintshire on the original endpaper. Slight scratching and handling marks to covers, first few pages including title page have been reinserted on tabs and are slightly soft, probably inserted by the binder at the time of rebinding, pale age-browning to margins mostly at the beginning, browning to edges of original endpaper and final page, title page slightly dusty and a small blind stamp to top edge, narrow strengthening and repairing strip of archival tape to outer edge of title page, hardly noticeable, offset from engraved portraits to facing text page, other occasional small marks, otherwise a very good attractive copy.
