About This Item
Seattle: University of Washington Press, 1974. First edition of this work on the history of the double helix. Octavo, original cloth, illustrated. Signed by both the author and Francis Crick on the title page, who contributed the foreword. The author has transcribed the following from this work, "The ultimate aim of the modern movement in biology is in fact to explain all biology in terms of physics and chemistry Robert Olby." Fine in a fine dust jacket. The Path to the Double Helix: The Discovery of DNA, is a broad and comprehensive study of the discovery of the molecular structure of DNA. "What I think is certain is that no future historian of science in this area will be able to ignore the present volume, both for the thoroughness of Olbys investigation and for the good judgment he brings to the task" (Francis Crick).
