London: Henry Sotheran and Co, 1877. Second English-language edition. [vi], 58 pp. with all 100 vivid chromolithographic plates present; plates XLVII (top and bottom edge trimmed) and XXVIII bound at front. Folio. Publisher's maroon cloth, recased with spine laid down, lettered in gilt and black, all edges gilt. Very Good+ with wear along edges, exposed tips, small corner chip to second blank. A few tiny stains to contents but no foxing, very bright internally. Recased binding is quite sturdy as well. A French examination of ornament throughout the ages with beautiful chromolithographed plates.
