About This Item

(Paris), 1946. Very Good. No. 122 of 250 on velin du Marais Crevecoeur, stiff paper chemise measuring 11 x 7.5 inches, housing loose sheets of the program and several hand-colored pictures, this copy inscribed to Alvin Laidley (a UNESCO administrator) by Guy Arnoux, the illustrator with a pencil sketch of a Legionnaire and including 12 colored pictures by Arnoux, Herve Baille, Berard, Paul Colin and others, with "enliminures" by Marlene Arzouman. The dinner, at the Boef sur le Toit (a Paris cabaret and nightclub), was organized by friends of the Legion Etrangere as a fundraiser for a "maison des invalides de la Legion." Koenig, the guest of honor, was a major French general during the war. It was he who was sent to arrest Marshall Petain and he was in charge of the French occupied zones of Germany in the post-war. Very good with light wear and soil, and very rare, no copies cited by OCLC or BNF.
