The author, an American national moved to France in 1892 and worked as a translator and as foreign correspondent for the Boston Journal for whom she had worked previously as a journalist. As suggested by the title her home overlooked the Marne and the book provides a moving account of the first few months of WWI. Fair ( Boards - shelf wear - mainly colour rubbing to cloth with some fraying to head of spine. Ink stains and biro marking to spine. Book block - no previous owner name or insc. This volume covers the events from June to September 1914. Owner's name ffep only mark in book, binding tight. Covers clean. In a price-clipped dust jacket that shows minor edge wear, chipping, one closed tear. Bottom front panel of dust jacket states nineteenth printing. Book condition VG+ in VG DJ.
