The spine and corners are lightly bumped, the covers have some minor scuffs, the dust jacket has edgewear, and a scrape on the back panel that obscures some of the blurb. "Giambattista Basile (1575-1632) was a Neapolitan whose career was so typical taht it could hardly have interested posterity had he not indulged his hobby of collecting what subsequently become known as folk-stories, and amused himself by writing in the local dialect.
