Ex-Libris plate stuck to front pastedown. Vol.5. Severe cracking to gutters with exposed netting, pages are loose. Pages 300-302 detached but still present. Pages and illustrations have light tanning and foxing throughout. Heavier to endpapers and pastedowns. Minor dog-eared corners. Boards have heavy shelf-wear with bumping to corners, crushing to spine ends and rub wear all over. Light tanning to spine and edges with chipping to leather to spine and edges.

Severe cracking to hinges causing boards to be loose. Pages and illustrations have light tanning and foxing throughout. Top edge of some pages uncut throughout with small tears to some page edges, text remains unaffected. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Slight crushing to spine ends. Dent to edge of rear board.

Vol. 5 only of 8 vol. set. 16mo, 7" tall, 304 pages + 30 plates, three-quarter leather over marbled boards. A good copy overall, front cover detached, leather heavily rubbed at spine ends, fore-corners worn through; marbled boards rubbed. Interior is very good with binding solid, paper clean and lightly yellowed with sporadic light foxing to fore-edges of pages; text and portraits are clean, quite bright. "Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Their Lives and Actions." Thirty portraits (all present) of individuals from the mid-1600s starting with William, Second Duke of Hamilton, 1651 to William Kerr, Earl of Lothian, 1675.

Some cracking to gutters with exposed netting and odd detached page. Minor pencil annotations to front pastedown. Binding remains firm. Bumped corners with some fraying and edge wear to boards and spine mildly crushed and frayed top and bottom. Spine tanned and marked. Gilt dulled.
