The author, "a lady of piety and intelligence,'' proffers a history of her beautiful city of Wilmington, Delaware, with Publishers Preface explaining the importance of issuing this Second Edition, as the First went out of print & had become exceedingly rare. Date of original copyright not provided, but this is the (Stated) Second Edition from 1872. In 310 pages, with 2 sepia-toned photos throughout text & a photographic frontispiece of Israel Aurelius, Swedish historian who was instrumental in founding the town. Each of these have their original tissue overlays, though these are heavily yellowed.
