Complete in two volumes. Second edition. Volume I is lacking the title page. Written by the English clergyman and theologian Sir. George Preyman Tomline who was appointed as the Bishop of Lincoln and later the Bishop of Winchester. In 1803, upon the death of his relative Marmaduke Tomline, Preyman gained a large inheritance and henceforth adopted the name of Tomline. Indeed Tomline gained significant wealth throughout his lifetime, which gained him great influence. This particular volume was designed for 'young students in divinity' who were seeking ordination, and features interpretations of the bible, with numerous examples of religious extracts and articles.
