First Edition Set of the first 24 issues of the original 36 separate parts, 592 pages. 24 steel and over 300 woodblock engravings on card and folio. 24-36 pages in each of the parts, each part has a full page front engraving with thin paper for protection, with numerous other engravings with the text. Each is bound in grey covers with decorations of maple leave and a circle with two profiles. Each one also has the publisher and author printed in black.The back cover of each one says:"Panorama of Canadian History and Life from Jacques Cartier's day." The Art Department is supervised by L.R. O'Brien, President of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, the literature by George Munro Grant, and the engraving by George Smith.
