Privately published. 1942. First edition. First edition. Signed by the author. Original marbled paper covered card. Limited to 240 copies, printed and bound by the author. Illustrated throughout with hand-coloured woodcuts by the author. A very good copy, the binding firm, the contents clean and bright throughout. Haberly was a writer of prose and poetry who had great love for letterpress printing. He printed, bound and illustrated many of his own books, this story of a camper who encounters a mysterious, enchanting huntress being no exception. Provenance: from the library of Martin Stone. Near Fine. 8vo. 39pp. Loyd Haberly binding of full scarlet morocco with gilt design of circles interlaced, with other tools and dots. Top edge gilt. Gilt titles to spine, green patterned endpapers, printed in Paradiso font on pure rag paper with titles in red and black, and red headers and numbering. With 14 vignette illustrations by Habery and handcoloured by him. Loyd Haberly (1896-1981) was an American poet, illustrator, printer, binder and educator. He started the Seven Acres Press while studying in England, and then later served for the Gregynog Press before moving back to the United States. Haberly produced 35 limited editions for which he was the author, illustrator, printer and binder.
