Harrap,, [1954]. 8vo., Second Impression, with portrait frontispiece, plates and maps, tiny signature on front free endpaper; green cloth, gilt back, backstrip faded at extremities, fore-edge lightly spotted else a bright, clean copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter with loss (not affecting lettering) at head of backstrip. Personal account of the Communist insurrection in Malaya and Templer's successes in stemming the tide. Published in the same year as the first edition. UNCOMMON.

London: George G. Harrap & Co. 1954. Octavo. original green cloth boards, dustjacket,. b&w plates, pp 248. Presentation inscription signed by the author on the dedication page ("you too were there"). Small closed tears to dustjacket at top of spine and rear panel, closed tear halftitle page, small slightly darker area at foot of the spine boards. Very good condition in like d.j. Published halfway through the war now known as the Malayan Emergency (1948 - 1960), a guerrilla war fought in British Malaya between communist pro-independence fighters of the Malayan National Liberation Army (MNLA) and the military forces of the Federation of Malaya, British Empire and Commonwealth. An on the ground report: the author was then a journalist with the Straits Times and was very concerned about the rise of the communists in South-East Asia. The author later worked as Chief News Editor of the Straits Times. 2nd impression. Boards in d.j..
