The wrappers lightly tanned and with a touch of light edge-creasing, and some surface abrasion to the verso of the first leaf where is appears a bookplate has been carefully removed. These are either new staples, or they were at some point repositioned. A fine copy. This is the withdrawn first issue of this publication which was rejected by Hughes on account of the poorly printed wrappers and the transposition of two lines in the third stanza. As a result the 100 copies were never numbered or signed on the colophon and a second, corrected issue was produced. This example being signed and dated (1971) on the title page is unusual.
