Library withdrawn stamp and rear envelope in each volume, marbled board has fore-edge chip, small bottom corner missing last page volume one. [Apparently this is not one of the sets issued with a third volume containing an appendix, letters and documents pertaining to Erasmus]. Volume I: A.D. 1467-1529; Volume II: A.D. 1530-1536..

A second volume appeared later devoted to Erasmus' works and writings about him.

Titles in red and black. Portrait frontispiece after Holbein, six plates of facsimiles in various hands, including a specimen in Erasmus' hand and of Budaeus, Durer and others. Bound in contemporary speckled calf with marbled endpapers and rebacked to style with red titles labels, the panels densely gilt. With two bookplates, one of Hon.
