Dustjacket. 202pp. Light bumping to spine ends, some grubbiness of the yellow cloth here and there, in a strong, bright pictorial dustjacket with some sunning to the spine panel and shallow chipping at the head and tail. Essentially a very good, solid copy in jacket. Internally clean. A gritty and rather brutal "man returns from the war and everything is upside down" novel in which a poor rural ex-soldier gets embroiled in local feuds, and falls for his wife's much younger sister. Reprinted numerous times in a series of steadily more risqué covers.

Now what, I ask you, exactly what could possibly go wrong? Yeah, that's what I thought, too. 139 pages + one-page advertisement for another News Stand Library title. Spine a bit cocked/rolled, moderate edgewear, some scraping to spine edges, light chipping to spine ends, impressions, handling creases, tanning, short tears to fore-edge of last end paper (blank). Internally still fairly tight, but if this isn't going straight into the collection, best to handle and read it with care. A very scarce edition..
