Description:
Penguin, 1958. First impression. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. The book is in the first edition ( hardback ) peach and green cloth binding. First edition publication details dated 1958. The dust jacket is definitely not from 1958 as it displays dual pricing of c1971 ( 1.75, 35/- ). Bridget Cherry's Bibliography of the series ( Penguin Collectors Soc., 1998 ) does not mention this pricing and gives the second appearance of 'Shropshire' as 1975, priced 3.50. She does suggest elsewhere in that work that unsold stock of first editions were 'recycled' in new jackets, which would appear to be the case here. Very clean, tight and sound copy. No inscriptions. Dust jacket not price clipped, unfaded, a tiny amount of light wear to edges. 368 pages, profusely illustrated, maps, index. Approx. size 7.5" x 5". Quantity Available: 1. Category: Architecture; Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 28516. .
