Roberts provides his own notes, "amplifying and clarifying" the sources. This is the Sept. 9, 1938 First Edition, which was followed by eight more printings through 1959. Following the writing of Arundel, Roberts compiled the journals of the members of Arnold's expedition to Quebec. This volume formed the basis of that research. This is the third edition of the book with the addition of the John Pierce Journal. 722 pages including an index. Following his writing of Arundel, Roberts compiled the journals of the members of Arnold's expedition to attack Quebec through the wilds of what is now the Maine woods north into Canada in the dead of winter. As Roberts uncovered additional material he continued to add those journals and records to later publications of this title.
