Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Light wear to unclipped dust jacket with tears, nicks and creases to spine, edge and corners. Light tanning to spine and edges. Tape to spine.

Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning. Clipped jacket has light edge wear with minor tears, chipping and creasing.

Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft fraying and crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Sm. 8vo., Second Edition, Sixth Impression, with a coloured frontispiece, 23 coloured plates, 151 plates in monochrome, 58 illustrations in the text and pictorial keys; original series binding of green leather-effect cloth, upper board elaborately blocked with gilt hazel spray and lettered in gilt and black, gilt back, radial corners, sprinkled edges, photographic endpapers, a near fine copy. The second title in Warne's famous series, Step's classic survey was the first to appear (in 1904) in the now familiar 'dumpy' W&W format. The second edition, revised by the Jacksons and with outstanding plates by Fitchew, followed in 1940 and was several times reissued. Uncommon in this condition. See Marren pp.142-4.
