Description:
Victoria, BC: Victoria and Island Publicity Bureau, 1920. Loose sheet unfolds to 12 panels. Very Good-. Ronald Threlkeld Jackson. Folding tourist brochure measures 31 x 47 cm folded to 24 x 11 cm (24" x 9.75"). With a color seascape reproduced on the cover, spanning three panels. Filled with many black-and-white photographs depicting the natural and built environment in and around Victoria. A vignette depicting an Northwest Coast indian canoe in motion is repeated across the top of panels. Slight wear along folds, and with two short, closed tears measuring less than an inch each. As a young man, Manitoba-born Jackson studied in both London and Paris; as such, this is likely a very early commission in his career, a career spent interpreting the maritime life of coastal British Columbia. The only institutional holding in British Columbia, per OCLC,… Read More
