Sharp's company has been building ships since 1920 and played a prominent role in the massive emergency ship construction program during WWII. The company is still operational and remains dedicated to the professional design of economic, cost-effective ships, ship systems and other marine structures for both commercial and military purposes. Sharp was inducted into the National Maritime Hall of Fame in 1999.
