Description:
Chicago: Clara Laughlin Travel Services, 1924. These ten little "letters," published as small pamphlets, each about 3 1/2" x 6", cover the basics of travel to Italy by ship and travel within Italy by train... IN THE 1920s! You will be faced with the difficult choice of competing ocean liner services, avoiding "second-cabin" accommodations--which Laughlin assures us is not because of snobbishness but "what makes fellow-voyagers tolerable or intolerable is not their moral worth but their personal and social habits." And this is just in the first "letter." Published in 1924-1925, these depict a world after WWI now pretty much gone although the sight-seer will recognize the usual suspects in the major cities. See the scan for the ten titles. Condition uniformly near fine. Worth a look for amusement, especially at price estimates, a glance at between-the-wars Italy, and even an occasional discovery worth considering. . Soft Cover.
