Edwin Arlington Robinson (1869 - 1935) was an American poet. He won three Pulitzer Prizes during a six year period. Collected Poems (1921 edition) earned Robinson his first Pulitzer Prize. This volume was his first published work after that. That was followed by Pulitzer Prizes for The Man Who Died Twice in 1925 and Tristram in 1928. An oft told story of Robinson concerns his given names: Robinson's parents, hoping for a girl to join their family which already included two boys, had not only failed to choose a boy's name, but hadn't named him at all. During a visit to a resort when he was six months old, other vacationers chided them for not naming the child.
