[Paris: 1797]. This map shows La PÈrouseís 1786 northwest coast exploration route from Mount St. Elias on the Alaska-Canada border to ëBaie de Clonardí, a cove on the west side of Graham Island. La PÈrouse was appointed to lead a French expedition which would further the scientific and geographical exploration of the northwest. [London: 1784]. This chart of the northwest coast of America and the northeast coast of Asia was published in the atlas to Cookís third voyage. On this voyage Cook accomplished the monumental charting of the northwest coast of America from Oregon at 44 degrees to Bering Strait at 70 degrees (Icy Cape, Alaska). Covering the area from Newfoundland to the Mississippi River and from Hudson Bay to Florida, Senex’s map provides extensive geographical information on the southeastern United States. First Issue of this important map of Quebec. The map shows the boundaries of Quebec according to the 1763 Treaty of Paris. Two inset maps, ‘A Particular Survey Of The Isles of Montreal’ and ‘Course of the River St. Laurence’, show the pattern of settlement and the feudal estates. Venice: 1776. Zattaís map of the northwest shows the influence of the 1752 Delisle/Buache Carte Des Nouvelles Decouvertes, including Da Fonteís elaborate system of inland seas and straits and a northwest passage. He shows Quivira and ëFou-Sangí, a colony the Chinese reputedly established on the norrthwest coast. The map is curiously decorated with illustrations of an elephant, ostrich and rhinoceros.
