Description:
247 pages with a few full page b/w photos. A ballad hunter in Nova Scotia near the turn of the century. The book is about the singers and efforts to collect the ballads, as much as the ballads themselves. Would have been interesting to listen to Mackenzie and Lomax swap tales about ballad collecting and the characters who sang them. Ex-Library with minimal marking including an Iowa State Library bookplate and a barely noticeable raised stamp of the same on the Title Page. The covers and spine are intact but worn with bumping, fraying and staining. Pages are clean and unmarked, but there is staining on the fore edge (see photos) which crept into some of the pages as much as 1/8".This may not be a collector's dream, but would be a treasure to many.
