The personal account by Muggleton (1609-1698) heresiarch and founder of the Muggletonian sect, of his religious beliefs which led him to claim himself and John Reeve as the prophets foretold in the bible. Persuaded by the Quakers out of a marriage to the wealthy daughter of a London pawn-broker on the grounds that his soul was in jeopardy as a would-be usurer, Muggleton struggled against the fears of hell and damnation which he believed weres his lot until "God chose John Reeve and myself by Voice of Words, to the hearing of the ear, to be his last two Prophets and Witnesses of the Spirit, and he gave us Understanding of his Mind in the Scriptures, above all the Men in the World at this Day".
