A translation of Al-Firuzabadi's ( Muh?ammad ibn Ya'qub Fi?ruzabadi) famous Arabic dictionary into Ottoman Turkish by Ahmet Asim ( (El-Okyanus ul-basit fi tercemet il-Kamus il-muhit). Printed in 1305 (AH), 1887-88 AD (after colophon in vol. 3) Three volumes bound in traditional Islamic leather bindings with blind stamped designs and gilt stamped decoration.Foxing of initial pages, a little insect damage to 2 pages of vol. 3, one page torn (without loss) but repaired leaving tape scars, some discolouration to cover of vol. 3. Wate, New York, June 1855". Most editions of this illustrated edition dated from 1853 onwards bear the imprint of Bogue. Top edge painted with similar horse heads, other edges uncut, eps marbled and sprinkled with gold paint, black stamp of a crouchinmg rabbit to bottom edge of fpd.
