Map 1, 28 sections, overall measurements 175 x 117 cm. center of map at 52 degrees south/59 degrees west, covers an area from George Speedwell Island in the SW to Shag Rocks in the SE and rom Mount Moody in the NW to Mount Kent in the NE. London: Samuel Leigh a pre-Railway (no date but c. 1830) 2-part fold out hand-coloured map of England , Wales and at a scale of 13/16th of an inch to 20 statute miles and Scotland at a reduced scale, showing Mail Roads, Turnpikes, Canals, Rivers, distances from London, seats in Parliament etc. Each map is made up of 21 sheets 4 x 6.5 inches mounted on linen, the titles are printed on the map itself and on pink title sheets with engravings of St Pauls Cathedral (Southern Part) and Edinburgh Castle (Northern Part). Once held in a green morocco folder, the front part is lacking leaving the spine, the back cover and the closure. Some water staining along the folds of both maps, some folded corners but the maps still bright and attractive and suitable for mounting or restoration.. Soft cover. Poor/No Jacket. Dehra Dun: The Office of the Trigonometrical Survey of India, 1909. A series of 45 folding charts (1 inch = 4 miles) and a large map index of the degree sheets showing the principal triangulation of the North-East Logitudinal Series (1 inch = 24 miles) of the Survey of India. The area covered runs approximately from Simla in the West to Darjeeling in the east and includes areas of what is now southeastern Tibet, Assam, Nepal and Bhutan including the great chain of triangulations running east and west from Dehra Dun (where the baseline was constructed) along the southern foothills of the Himalyas. Half leather with black cloth, gilt tiles to spine; spine in poor condition with significant loss, front cover loose, stamp of the Observatory Department of the National Physical Laboratory (1910) on fpd. This is a technical work printed in Dehra Dun by heliozincograph. Half leather, black cloth, gilt titles to spine much of which has been lost. Maps mounted on tabs and in very good condition, boards all but detached.
