Les Amours de Cassandre is a collection of poems in decasyllables by Pierre de Ronsard from 1552. Ronsard sets the rules of the sonnet: two quatrains in which alternate male rhymes and female rhymes followed by two tercets whose rhymes are arranged in a conventional manner. Cassandre Salviati (1530-1607) is the daughter of Bernardo Salviati, one of François I's bankers. Cassandre is a young Italian girl met by the poet on April 21, 1545 in Blois at a court ball.
