He covers the apparent historical sightings of the creatures down the years, and looks to disentangle the rational from the legend. Whether real or not, he conjectures, Bigfoot plays an important cultural role.
The book is in unusually good condition. Pages are remarkably clean and tidy with a small hardly noticeable light brown stain on the lower edges . DJ is in VG+ condition, it has small diagonal cuts taken out of 3 of the four flap corners, but not price clipped. Otherwise excellent with only the most minor shelf wear. A fascinating and well known book on Loch Ness, wherein Holiday examines the history of the Loch Ness mystery. He also compares Nessie with other water beasts in this comprehensive and thought provoking scrutiny of the field.
Pages are clean and unmarked with no writing or inscriptions etc. A few foxing spots to the edges, and a small light brown stain (tea/coffee?) on the top ends of the first 30 pages, but only visible by looking at the side of the book. Cloth boards fairly tight and clean. DJ is unclipped, some shelf wear at top and the rear flap has some staining and a small tear at base. The future BBC correspondent published this fascinating survey of the Loch Ness Monster when he was just 21, having spent 7 years intensely studying the case through research and in situ. It acts as an excellent primer of the case up to that time, culminating in the investigations using cutting edge underwater photography in the summers of 1972 and 1973.The book is richly illustrated with a wide range of photographs throughout.

Spaeth relates a range of classic tales, including: an examination of Morgawr the Cornish sea serpent; giant squid attacks; the Bermuda Triangle and Atlantis; the search for monster sharks; a British sea captain's escape from a sea monster in August 1848; and how a Los Angeles lawyer maintains he saw John Wayne's ghost on the late actor's yacht. Some great tales and interesting accounts.

A wonderful first edition of the Fenton's book wherein animals of long ago are compared with their modern descendants in this fun volume aimed at younger readers. The descriptions and artwork of the ancient creatures provide an insight into where paleontological research was at during the late 1950s and early 1960s. A fascinating time piece. Even if the dinosaurs are not quite described in a way we would now agree with, the text is fun and the drawings detailed and commendable for its age.

Copper was a well known writer on the supernatural, as well as a range of fiction genres. Here he turns his attention the the Werewolf, and deals eloquently with the myths, history and artistic embellishment in the world of lycanthropy. A really interesting read. Book is ex-library but in fact in very good condition. See all photos. Pages are bright clean and unfoxed.
