Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the title page, "For Patti, Katherine Paterson 1/26/82." Fine in a fine dust jacket. In addition to being a Newbery Medal winner, Bridge to Terabithia was also named an ALA Notable Children's Book and has become a touchstone of children's literature. It is the basis for the 2007 film directed by Gabor Csupo from a screenplay by David L. Paterson and Jeff Stockwell, starring Josh Hutcherson, Anna Sophia Robb, Bailee Madison, Zooey Deschanel, and Robert Patrick.
Synopsis
Bridge to Terabithia is a work of children's literature about two lonely children who create a magical forest kingdom. The author is Katherine Paterson, and the book was published in 1977 by HarperCollins. In 1978, it won the Newbery Medal. Paterson drew inspiration for the novel from a real event that occurred in August 1974 when a friend of Paterson's son was struck by lightning and killed.
