A few other oddities: a Spotless Cheetah; an Albino Deer; a Black Penguin; a Brown Panda; a White Alligator; a Black Jaguar; a Spirit Bear (White); and a Chimera Butterfly (a different pattern on one half of its body compared to the other half).

It's like you are there. The cheetah bounds, the lion charges, the African elephant snaps its ears, the zebra and the rhino fast-walk across the plains; plus 3 more animals. All 8 are working fine.

Red pictorial d.j. with White lettering on front and back, as well as on the spine. There is a repaired tear on the front edge of the spine and a little way into the front of the d.j., corresponding with the puncture mentioned under the "binding description".

From the Foreword: "The Many Faceted Public Eye". "The eye of the public, like that of the insect, has many facets, and these enable each creature to look fore, aft, overhead and sideways. There the similarity ends, for the insect has at least six legs and sometimes a double set of wings. This equipment enables him to alertly spring toward his prey, away from his enemy or in pursuit of his mate. Humans, on the other hand, are generally two-legged, fumble-fingered slobs whose insolent wits enable them by and large to be sitting ducks."

From the d.j.: "The first Europeans to reach the Pacific Northwest were Spanish--Perez in 1774 and Bodega y Quadra the next year. According to oral history, the barefoot native peoples thought the Spaniards had wooden feet. Captain Cook stayed several weeks at Nootka on his way to Bering Strait in 1778. The next year the Spanish set up an outpost at Nootka and were the first Europeans to live ashore on the Canadian west coast. In 1792 Dionisio Alcala Galiano and Cayetano Valdes sailed north from San Blas, Mexico in the 'Sutil' and the 'Mexicana'. Galiano circumnavigated Vancouver Island effectively disproving the existence of the Northwest Passage. His ships met Captain George Vancouver's several times and they collaborated on surveys and explorations."

From the d.j.: "Gubby is a salmon fisherman who lives with his wife Millie and cat Puss in a small seaside village on the west coast of British Columbia. He keeps his boat, the Flounder--a 36-foot West Coast salmon troller--at a local wharf with many other boats. Gubby's journey first takes him up BC's west coast, through Georgia, Johnstone and Queen Charlotte straits and north past Port Hardy. He then heads into the open ocean towards treacherous Cape Scott, through to Winter Harbour and Quatsino sound to settle in for a summer of fishing. Gubby and Puss face roaring rapids, rough and tumble storms, banks of fog, a pod of orcas and a tussle with a basking shark, all while trolling for spring and coho salmon and visiting other fishermen and homesteaders along the way. Based on actual events."

Author Zonia Keywan, herself of Ukranian descent, spent a year travelling through the rural areas of Alberta and Saskatchewan visiting Ukranian settlements and interviewing homesteaders and their descendants. The result was this book, including chapters on "Emigration", "Making a Home", "Living on the Land", "Family, Social and Religious Life", and "The Years That Followed". Many b/w photos included.

Near Fine book with VG to VG+ pictorial d.j. somewhat rubbed and a little creased at top of d.j. front (no missing chips). "In a time and a land not so very different from ours, lives a one called Juna, a dream helper who has spent much of his life dreaming for others. A mystical modern-day fable.

Manfred von Richthofen, popularly known as "The Red Baron" was WWI's most successful air fighter. "Through a combination of marksmanship, steel-hard nerves and luck, Richthofen shot down 80 enemy aircraft in less than fifteen months total time at the front as a fighter pilot. Revered as a seemingly invincible champion by his own forces, he was respected by his adversaries.
