Description:
np: np, [196-]. Very good.. Brief comic discussing science from a radical-left perspective, with the only authorial information being the name Bob Maier on final leaf. As the former collector notes on front, Bob Maier also contributed to a 1968 issue of the anarchist/situationist magazine BLACK & RED, published in Kalamazoo, MI by Fredy Perlman and others. The comic consists of pictures of scientists, with Marxian speech bubbles added; e.g. "If a scientist is to be a good observer, one must observe reality - never, never change reality. Changing reality must be left to the 'experts,' i.e., AUTHORITY." Scarce; OCLC finds two copies: one at Michigan State, and another at Northwestern. Wraps. 8vo. Unbound self wraps - two folded sheets. Very good. Moderate toning, surface creasing, and handling wear. Collector's penciled notations to front cover. Else clean and unmarked. [8] pp.

Description:
[Various], 1960. A large and diverse collection of amateur radio cards assembled by Royce A. Fish (call letters W3HEQ) of Rockville MD, broadcast engineer for CBS News and President of I.B.E.W Local 1200. As amateur radio developed, QSL card collecting became an important part of the ham radio culture, used to confirm contact between stations and operators. Cards from distant locations were exchanged and often used to decorate the walls of one's station. Production of QSL cards ranged from a DIY affair to professionally printed photographic cards, commonly showing the operator at his station (almost always a he, almost always the sort of pasty guy you would imagine). The cards show trends in graphic design, new printing technologies, even geopolitical developments. Particularly interesting in this collection are a large group of cards from Soviet block countries. Cards in this collection come from Czechoslovakia, Belarus, Poland, Yugoslavia and other Soviet republics, where amateur radio broadcasters…

(London): n.p., 1976. First Edition. Very good.. Original flyer from a series of dates that would help define the legendary and infamous band. Beginning in 1976, The Sex Pistols' took up Tuesday night residency at the 100 Club (a venue better known until then for jazz), gigs that would be pivotal for the band. As Jon Savage has written in his definitive ENGLAND'S DREAMING: "In the intimate setting of the 100 Club, the group could relax enough to take risks with their material and their performances. There they began to master their equipment, using the acoustics of the small club to experiment with overload, feedback and distortion. Electric amplification had provided much of the excitement of early Rock'n'Roll: pushing their equipment to the limit [...] the Sex Pistols twisted their limited repertoire into a noise as futuristic as their rhetoric" (177). The club also served as location for the famed 100 Club Punk Special, a two-day festival featuring the Pistols, The Damned, The Buzzcocks, The…

Description:
(London): n.p., 1925. Very Good.. An excellent annotated album of bull-fighting by a noted writer. Reynolds, a British journalist, was the author of three books of travel: FROM THE IVORY COAST TO THE CAMEROONS (1929), BY DESERT WAYS TO INDIAN SNOWS (1932), and AFRICAN PASSAGE (1935). Most images taken by Reynolds (with his stamp and penned comments to verso of many pictures). Subjects encompass the totality of Tauromaquia: from the selection of the bulls and the opening processions to the spectacle of the ring. Numerous action shots, including several gorings. The images primarily show the matadors and toreadors: Maera, Joselito, Cojida, and Nino de Palma - said to be the model for Pedro Romero in THE SUN ALSO RISES. With Reynolds' concise but informative typed captions, an engaging portrait of the culture and sport of bullfighting we suspect was a intended for eventual publication. Hardcover. Oblong 4to. cloth-bound album. 25 x 36cm. 103 original photographs, most (92) approx. 3.5 x 5.5" with…
