Sandburg's 6 Volume Set is a masterpiece in writing and early American history. The description within the Prairie Years (2 volumes) are my favorite of the 6 volumes. The last 4 volumes deal with the War Years and are most informative. Learning how the character Lincoln evolved over the years gives great insight into his life and motivations. Without a doubt, one of the best series of historical books I have read. Most enjoyable and instructive. I am humbled by his character and dedication to the people of the United States.
