No Binding. Fine/No Jacket. A large (17"x12") cibachrome print by Hans Hammarskiöld, Utan titel (untitled). Signed on the back by the photographer. Hammarskiöld was born in 1925 in Stockholm. His breakthrough as a professional photographer came in the 1950s when he worked all over the world. In 1955 his work, along with that of his wife Caroline Hebbe, was selected by Edward Steichen for the world-touring Museum of Modern Art exhibition and book "The Family of Man", seen by 9 million visitors. For some years he was employed by the British Vogue. Hammarskiöld was the last surviving member of the group Tio fotografer (Ten Photographers), which formed in 1958 and was influential in Swedish photography for decades as the illustrations agency Tiofoto. Each volume includes the Greek from the Oxford University Classical texts, and Alexander Pope's original English translation. The Iliad is Pope's 1715 translation. It is number 941 of 1450 copies. The Odyssey is Pope's 1725 translation. It is number 366 of 1300 copies. Both books are bound in full morocco, with spines having five raised bands with gilt titles, and measure 10 ½" by 6". The top edges are gilt, while the bottom and fore edges are untrimmed. The endpapers are marbled, as are the slipcases. Both slipcases have wear and rubbing to top, bottom, and corners. Their condition is good. Each book has a faint 3/16th inch penciled number on the back free endpaper. Aside from these there are no other markings in either volume.
