Description:
The First Edition of "The Road to Wigan Pier" by George Orwell, included as book of the month for march 1937. Contains 16 photographic plates. The Road to Wigan Pier is an autobiographical account that examines the harsh living conditions of the working class in Lancashire and Yorkshire during the Depression. The second half features an essay in which Orwell reflects on his middle-class upbringing and the evolution of his political views over time. Includes yellow club membership leaflet. Very Good Condition. Orange limp cloth covering with black lettering to covers. 16 photographic plates with 32 photos. Binding is firm and pages are clean with minor foxing. Covers have slight wear with some fraying to edges and minor curling of corners. The only notable defect is the heavy tanning to spine and edges. Small pen stroke to rear cover.
