Uncommon Jena-edition of Saavedra’s anti-Machiavellian emblem book, originally published in Spanish in 1640, containing a hundred short essays on the education of prices. Offering guidance on governance, diplomacy, and statecraft the work provides insights into political philosophy during the Baroque period. The format of the work, short essay each accompanied by beautiful illustrations, help popularize the work outside academic and scholarly circles and the work became immensely popular with numerous edition and translations.

From these observations he estimated the figure of the earth."An artillery officer, Sabine was a graduate of the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich.
