A fine and bright copy bound in attractive late twentieth century half dark green morocco. Spine with raised bands, each decorated with gilt piping. The compartments are ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Green cloth and ruled gilt borders on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. A little light spotting to a few pages otherwise a near fine copy in a lovely leather binding. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a master bookbinder.

The boards are a little marked and the spines a bit dulled but still very good copies. In original green paper dustwrappers, printed in dark blue, with some darkening to the spines and minor chipping to the extremities but generally very good. ----- Originally published in 1910, 1912 and 1913, the second edition appeared in 1925 and 1927 with a new introduction and three appendices.

Copy number 61 of just 92 copies reserved for La Librairie des Éditions, out of 189 copies in the total edition. A fine copy with the page edges still uncut. Publishers white paper wraps printed in blue and black. Original glassine around the wraps. A lovely copy, and scarce in such nice condition, of the first printing of Beckett's translation. Although written during 1944, Watt wasn't published until 1953 and it was another 15 years before he completed this much anticipated French translation.

Marbled endpapers with a neat previous owners bookplate mounted in each volume. All edges marbled. An attractive copy.

Tops and bottoms of some spines and hinges have been professionally repaired. Some minor chipping to a few labels but overall a very good attractive set.

The plates were specially re-engraved by J. Fittler, C. Warren, A. Raimbach (x2), A. Smith, and R. Golding for this new translation. Some foxing to the frontispiece illustrations and, very much lighter, to just the first couple of leaves of each volume otherwise a clean, bright set in fine early nineteenth century leather bindings of full burgundy straight grained Morocco. There is some foxing throughout much the book, mostly to the top third of the pages and fairly light but in some cases darker and over more of the page. Conyemporary half dark brown morocco. Spine with raised bands. Compartments lettered and decorated in gilt. Marbled paper on boards and endpapers. Previous owners bookplate on front pastedown endpaper. Neat previous owners name, dated Xmas '98 on front blank endpaper. Overall a near to very good copy of this beautifully illustrated title.:

Bright and clean copies throughout in fine recent leather bindings of full dark blue morocco, the spines with five raised bands, compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Single ruled gilt border on boards. All edges gilt. Sassoon's masterpiece of autobiographical fiction. One of the great literary works of the twentieth century. --- The first volume was published anonymously in an edition of just 1500 copies and is scarce. A limited edition, signed by Sassoon, was published later in 1928 and matching limited and signed volumes were issued alongside the publication of the two other volumes.

Longmans, Green & Co. London. 1907. FIRST EDITION. First printing. Large 8vo. (8.5 x 6.4 inches). Colour frontis, 22 full page mono plates and hundreds of small engraved vignettes to the margins of the text pages, all by E. Caldwell. This is the scarce first issue with the margin drawings of a dung beetle pushing his load with his front legs rather than his back on pages 65, 337 and 457. These were changed in later issues. Some feint offsetting to the blank endpapers and a few pages with some minor spotting but generally a very bright and clean copy throughout. Publishers original dark green cloth with gilt illustrations and lettering to the front board and the spine. The board edges are lightly rubbed and the gilt just a little dulled but overall a very good copy of this scarce first edition.

Original green cloth spine and front board bound in at the back of the book. Small amount of light spotting to a few pages otherwise a very good copy in a fine attractive leather binding.

Williams and Norgate. London., 1921. FIRST EDITION. Large 8vo.(10.2 x 7.8 inches). Illustrated with 96 plates. Publishers original green cloth binding with gilt lettering and ruling to spine. Binding a bit rubbed and bumped but overall sound and the gilt still bright. This copy has a full page original ink self portrait of Orpen on the front blank endpaper, showing the artist painting the famous American Wall Street lawyer and art collector, Paul Cravath. ---- The drawing is inscribed by Orpen at the bottom of the page "My very dear Mr Cravath-It was a big job to tackle on those hot summer afternoons you must admit. All good wishes in 1922.-------(?) William Orpen". Robinson Company and with both companies names stamped to the inner front board. Full plum calf. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments ruled and fully decorated in gilt.
