Two early examples of Walkingame's Tutor's Assistant; the 26th edition printed by A.Millar, London 1791; and Crosby's 'New Edition' printed in York, 1815. The London edition in original eighteenth century full leather, well worn and soiled, with an abundance of early ink inscriptions, lacking free endpapers and the folding frontispiece table, otherwise complete. The York edition complete with folding table, boards stained and somewhat warped, paper rather browned, early inscriptions to endpapers and early booksellers label to front pastedown ('Deighton, Bookseller and Stationer, 53 High Street, Worcester'). Two early working copies of this popular manual of arithmetic.

First edition (published 1832-38), octavo, three volumes; xii, 388; 409; 509pp. In contemporary half calf (lightly worn), spines divided into five compartments with gilt rolls and double fillets, gilt lettered titles and volume numbers to second and fourth compartments respectively. Early ownership labels to front endpapers, neat early ink ownership names to head of each title page, early pencil ownership inscription to opening blank of volume three, half-titles present in all three volumes. Clean attractive copy in first edition of Warren's often macabre tales that have received considerable scholarly attention as a source for Edgar Allan Poe's works of mystery and the supernatural.

Moderate dampstaining to rear board and opening and closing leaves of volume one, with neat repairs to damp damage on front board of volume one; half titles present in all volumes; original title pages missing and resupplied in good facsimile on matching antique paper. Early pencil ownership inscriptions to front free endpapers. Overall a very presentable copy of this Regency novel telling the tale of the trials and injustices set upon the heroine Alzylia and the struggles of her lover Leonilus to liberate her. Very Good. 12mo; iv, [150 hymns, not paginated], viii, [164 hymns], xii, [5]pp. In recent full brown cloth with gilt spine title, new endpapers, original yellow free endpapers bound in (the front free endpaper bearing a contemporary owners inscription), owners inscription and two old ink stamps to first title page, occasional very light spots and browning, overall a clean and attractive copy complete with half title specifying this to be "Sequel to Weyman's Melodia Sacra - Hymns and Anthems - Bass". With bass clef musical notation for every hymn. This edition bears no date but its paper, typeface and inscriptions put it approximately between 1850 and 1860, and certainly no later than 1871.
