No Binding. As New. Between 1897 and 1913, Charles Paul Gruppé (1860-1940) lived in the Netherlands, where he painted with the Hague School of art and acted as a dealer for Dutch painters in the US. He, his wife Helen and their children returned permanently to America in 1913 ahead of World War I. All their children were active in the arts; Paulo as a cellist, Karl as a sculptor, Virginia in watercolors, and Emile Albert Gruppé. Please view the photographs. CONDITION: Excellent. Los Angeles. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. An original typescript screenplay called "The Anthem Sprinters" based on his 1963 short story. It was filmed in 1992 for the Ray Bradbury Theater television series. Bradbury, author of Fahrenheit 451 and The Martian Chronicles, is one of America's most celebrated science fiction, fantasy and horror writers. In this story, an American author visits a Dublin pub where he is caught up in the excitement over a local sporting event known as "anthem sprinting." Runners compete to see who can exit the theater fastest during the few seconds between the end of a film and the start of the Irish National Anthem. Handwritten changes by the author on a couple of pages (see photos). Included is a signed letter from Bradbury.

Front pastedown bears a paper label from the Pavlovsk Palace Library. This is a slim volume of only eight pages - title page plus seven maps. All edges gilt.
