Radio host and publicist Peter Gravina spent his career surrounded by famous opera singers of his era and decided to compile their favorite recipes in this volume. Includes the favorite drinks and recipes, liberally peppered with anecdotes and intimate vignettes of 50 opera singers, including Maria Callas, Leontyne Price, Robert Merrill, and Birgit Nilsson. With a preface by Francis Robinson, then Assistant Manage of the Metropolitan Opera, often known as "Mr. Metropolitan Opera." 219 pages with 18 B&W photos.
First edition in very good condition, clean, firm and unmarked except for a small penciled price in upper right of front endpaper. Dust jacket is fair, with multiple chips and tears mostly on the spine (spine is also tanned). See images for better idea of condition. Email with any questions.

A 19th century traveller's guide to Ireland. illustrated throughout and with five folding maps, all except one in good condition. A large unattached folding map of Ireland is not included in this edition. Instead the front inside flap contains a full map of Ireland. A few vintage handwritten notes are made on a couple inside pages in one section. The binding and pages are holding up well considering the age and obvious use of this book. The final 120-page section of "Advertisements" is a wonderful window into the the 19th century, featuring ads for hotels, spas, retailers, bakers, railroads, steamship lines, luggage purveyors and more.
