Les Joies du Sport., 1932. Limited to 750 copies. Original print from the collection of 44 sporting prints was assembled by Maurice & Jacques Goddet. The illustrations were all done by the Bosnian born Milivoy Uzelac. After studying at the Académie of Beaux-Arts in Prague he moved to Paris where his work was widely exhibited. He illustrated many other publications and was also a sculptor. Each print is acompanied by a letter from a famous personality of the day. This one is by Jean Ajalbert Pochoir. Printed colour, hand finished. Very good condition. Size: 23 x 30 cm. (9 x 12 inches).

Paris., 1766. In the mid-eighteenth century French mapmaking was at its peak. Brion de la Tour was one of its most prolific cartographers. This beautiful decorated little map, elegantly surrounded by an ornate engraved uncoloured frame, is a fine example of the period. Published in the "Atlas General, Civil et Ecclesiastique". Sheet size: 377 x 293 mm. Plate size: 316 x 284 mm. Copper engraving. Original colour. Good condition. Minor split to lower central fold.

Antonio Zatta was one of the leading cartographers and publishers of the time, and his Atlante Novissimo was one of the most beautifully produced of 18th century atlases. He drew on the work of other cartographers- such as Captain Cook, for his maps of New Zealand and Australia, Robert de Vaugondy, Bellin, and developed his own distinctive elegant style. Buchoz or Buc'hoz (1731-1807) was born in Metz. At the age of 28, he was appointed physician to the King of Poland, but left his post to pursue his interest in botany. Copper engraving. Amsterdam., c1740. A fine engraved map of English Channel with the Strait of Dover - Calais. The map is showing the south east corner of England as far north as Colchester and as far west as Lulworth in Dorset and Gloucester. Part of the continental coast is shown with the island of Alderney. The title, scales and explanation appear across the top of the map. Copper engraving. Original colour. Paris., 1788. Attractive ornamental cartouche, Two secondary cartouches, one containing nine scales, the other is an ' Avertissement' explaining the depiction of the German provinces and enclaves. The map not only shows Germany, but also the Low Countries, Switzerland, Austria parts of Poland and Hungary. The plates were originally made by De l'Isle around 1700. Covens and Mortimer reissued them. Phillipe Buache was de l'Isle's successor, and son in law, he continued to reissue de l'Isle's maps in the later eighteenth century. Copperplate engraving with later hand colour. Very good condition, some watermarks on margins, short closed tear at lower centrefold.some sporadic spotting and light browning on margins. Lausanne., 1795. Highly decorative engraving of the exotic bird by Buffon, a French naturalist, mathematician, biologist, cosmologist and author. Le Comte de Buffon was struck by the diversity of life and was not content with existing explanations of the natural world. 100 years before Darwin, Buffon, in his Histoire Naturelle, a 44 volume encyclopedia describing everything known about the natural world, was considering common ancestry of man and apes. An attractive and impressive botanical print by the husband and wife collaboration of Nicolas and Genevieve Regnault, from their work entitled 'La Botanique Mise a la portee de tout le monde ou Collection des Plantes D'Usage...'. The work illustrates both helpful (medicinal) and decorative plants. Blunt says " The most impressive French botanical work of the period". Size: 456 x 338 mm.
