Louis Janet. Paris. ND. circa 1875. Third edition. Small 8vo. (5.9 x 4.4 inches). xvi, 157pp. Thirteen hand coloured illustrated plates (including extra title page) with movable pull tabs to change the image. An asterisk next to the text tells when the movable should be used to animate the scene. A crease to the top of the half title page and a few minor thumb marks to a handful of leaves, otherwise a very good, fresh and clean copy in the publishers red morocco-grained cloth with blind stamped decorative border to both boards. Gilt lettering to the front board. Coated mid brown endpapers. All edges gilt. A superior copy of this rare movable. First issued in 1831, there was a second issue in 1837 and then this third, circa 1875, with the text printed by Ducessios of Paris. All three printings are rare, and copies in such good condition and with all tabs present and easily workable, as this one even more so. Sometimes described as the first interactive book published, this is certainly the first to use…

(12.7 x 10.1 inches). iv, 259pp. Tear to the top outer corner margin of the note page, after the title page, and well away from the text, otherwise a very good uncut copy in publishers original paper covered boards. Publishers advert (hot the publisher of this book) for B. C. Brodie's Diseases of the Joints inserted to the inner margin of the front blank free endpaper. Overall a very good copy. J. Johnson. London. 1796. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (8.6 x 5.4 inches). [4], 262, [4], [2] pp. Complete as issued, with the listing of Wollstonecraft's book in the back (her first bibliography). A little spotting to some pages but generally a very good copy in contemporary full brown calf, re-backed with the original calf spine, ruled in gilt, laid down and a new red title label, gilt. A very good copy of Wollstonecraft's eloquent observations on Scandinavian people and places in the late eighteenth century. Published in London in 1796, just six years after her seminal work A Vindication of the rights of Women. Covering a mixture of subjects, approached from a personal, sociological and philosophical viewpoint, the book was a commercial and critical success, with Godwin praising it; "if ever there was a book calculated to make a man fall in love with its author, this appears to me to be the book".
