Finely bound in contemporary full brown pebble grained morocco. Spine with raised bands, ruled in blind. Gilt lettering. Boards with triple blind ruled borders and gilt stamped school arms in centre. All edges gilt. Inner dentelles gilt. Eton School prize label on front paste down endpaper. Some minor rubbing to extremities but overall a very good, bright copy.:

William Heinemann Ltd. London. 1932. FIRST EDITION. 8vo.(7.5 x 5.2 inches). Aside from a couple of leaves at the front which have some light foxing this is a near fine copy in the original blue cloth, lettered in gilt and black to the spine. The front board with the Author's symbol in black and gilt lettering, the rear board with the publishers Windmill logo in black. The gilt and the cloth are still bright and fresh. In the uncommon original Youngman Carter designed dustwrapper with 7/6 price still intact on the front inner flap. Loss to the top and bottom of the wrapper, affecting the lettering of the title and publisher. V shaped chip to the top of the rear panel but not affecting the lettering. Stott A44.

John Lane The Bodley Head. London. 1902. Early Edmund New illustrated edition, originally issued in 1900. 8vo. (7.8 x 5.4). Fully illustrated with 50 full page, and 135 smaller engravings by Edmund H. New. Fine bright copy in a beautiful binding of half dark green morocco. Spine with five raised bands, compartments with double gilt ruled borders. Two sections lettered in gilt and the others decorated with gilt design of a bird on a branch. Marbled paper on boards. A lovely copy.

W. S. Johnson, 60 St. Martin's Lane, Charring Cross. No date. Circa 1850. (4.7 x 4.2 inches). Two concertina sheets, each printed on one side with 6 hand coloured woodcuts of animals above the accompanying text in each section. Unbound as issued, in pale peach coloured paper wraps with the title, publisher details and a woodcut illustration to the front panel and an advert for The Home Circle Magazine, a family magazine (this periodical was only published between 1849-54), on the rear, both within a decorative border. The illustrated pages feature fairly crude hand colouring and there are a few creases but they are complete and generally very good indeed. There is a later (dated June '95) neat pencil inscription on the front wrapper cover, which has a few creases but is overall in very good condition. An attractive and rare survivor. A very good clean copy in the original publishers binding of brick red cloth, letttered and decorated in brown to the boards, the spine lettered in gilt. Plain white endpapers with both inner hinges solid and without any the cracking often found in copies of this title. Some rubbing to the cloth extremities but overall a very good copy.:.

Macmillan and Co. Limited. London. 1922. FIRST U.K EDITION. 8vo. Previous owners neat inscription, dated Xmas 1922, on the front free endpaper. Both sets of endpapers with some offsetting, mostly to the margins and possibly a reaction to the glue used in the book's production. Publishers blue cloth with title and Author on the front board, within two ruled borders, all in dark blue. Spine lettered and ruled in gilt. A near fine copy of the book in a very good original dustwrapper with price of 7/6s on the spine. Some chipping to the top of the spine and a couple of small chips to the top edge of the rear panel. Overall a better than very good copy.

Macmillan and Co. London. 1906. EARLY THOMSON EDITION. 8vo. (7.8 x 5.4 inches). Illustrated with 40 full page line drawings. Publishers original burgundy cloth with decorative blind stamped floral design to both boards, the front board lettered and ruled in gilt. Spine ruled and lettered in gilt. Page edges untrimmed. Internally a fine bright and clean copy throughout. A little rubbing to the binding extremities and just a hint of fading to the spine but overall a very good, bright copy. Becoming increasingly difficult to find in collectable condition in the publishers cloth.

Basil Blackwell/The Shakespeare Head Press. Oxford. 1926. LIMITED EDITION. TEN VOLUMES. 8vo. (7.6 x 5.4 inches). One of 1030 sets printed, of which 1000 are for sale. Fine clean books which have been finely bound in recent half red morocco leather, spines with raised bands, the compartments lettered and decorated in gilt. Top edges gilt. Red cloth on boards. A little uniform fading to the spines but still overall a near fine set.

Half title, Title page, 415pp. One of 500 copies printed, using the fine Baskerville Greek type. A clean and crisp copy in a very good contemporary leather binding of full diced dark brown calf boards, with floral gilt roll borders. Professionally re-spined at a later date with a matching coloured Morocco spine, ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Board edges ruled in gilt. Marbled endpapers. Gilt inner dentelles. All edges marbled. A small patch of rubbing to the front free endpaper and some rubbing and bumping to the edges but overall a very good copy of this beautifully printed book in an attractive 18th century binding.

Some offsetting to the half title page and a few minor spots to a couple of pages otherwise internally this is a very clean copy throughout. Publishers original burgundy cloth binding with gilt stamped illustration showing Christopher Robin playing with a toy train on front board, within a gilt ruled border, and Pooh and Piglet at a tikit office on the rear. Top edge gilt. Some very light fading to the spine and minor bumping to the corners of the binding but overall a better than very good copy.
