Good. This volume was printed on poor quality paper and rarely survives. Splitting to edge of fragile paper spine. Usual browning/foxing. 46 p. Text in Russian. With author's portrait. This is the second published appearance (and first in book form) of Solzhenitsyn's hugely controversial first book, originally published in the magazine Novy Mir two months earlier. By this time, Solzhenitsyn's ability to publish in his homeland was in jeopardy. Though a number of minor pieces would appear in periodicals, this was the first and last major publication of his work during the Soviet regime.

Warmly inscribed to the front inner cover by Ernest Coffin "Sidney Allnutt, I ???? a certain hope that the whisky sold in this establishment will be the cause of our untimely end, Ernest Coffin".

The recipient was Hilda Lexcey Balfour-Davey (nee Hilda Lexcey BOXSHALL).

The panorama cloth painted from designs by William Nicholson. The Quadrille performed by Major the Hon. Neville Lytton, Mr Compton Mackenzie, Mr Alfred Noyes, Mr Roland Pertwee, Mr Gerald Duckworth etc.

The UK production of "The Seven Year Itch" premiered on 14 May 1953 at the Aldwych Theatre in London, running until the 27 February 1954. The cast featured Brian Reece as 'Richard Sherman' and Rosemary Harris as 'The Girl' with Margot Stevenson as 'Helen Sherman', Alexander Gauge as 'Dr Brubaker', Vernon Greeves as 'Tom Mackenzie', Jill Melford as 'Miss Morris', Isabel George as 'Elaine', Toni Frost as 'Marie', Bunny May as 'Ricky', Anne Purkiss as 'Pat', Ronald Wilson as 'The voice of Richard's conscience' and Lee Washburn as 'The voice of the Girl's conscience'. Directed by John Gerstad with designs by Frederick Fox.

Attractive single-sheet flyer for this 1956 Stoll Theatre Christmas Season production of 'Noddy in Toyland' based on the original production of Andre van Gyseghem. Printed in colour to the front with black/white printed 'Message from Enid Blyton' to the reverse.Noddy first appeared on stage at the now demolished Stoll Theatre in Kingsway, London, in 1954. This flyer is from the Christmas Season, 1956 production (commencing December 22nd).
